Wine route to Alella

This is a perfect wine tour if you don't want to go too far from Barcelona and for just a 3-4 hours' time.

Alella is the smallest D.O. (Origen Appellation) in Spain, with just 315 ha of planted vineyards. Located 25 minutes ride north from the city of Barcelona between the Mediterranean Sea and the Catalan Coastal Mountain Range.

The wine state that we visit is Alta Alella.

Alta Alella is the culmination of a family project that began more than twenty years ago with Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and his wife Cristina Guillen. From the beginning the organic farming and the respect for the environment and nature have been the basis for making their organic wines and cavas in the DO Alella and DO Cava, with the will for transparency, being a true reflection of the “terroir” and the vintage.

Among their famous wines we have the sweet red Dolç Mataró, the white Lanius, the red Orbus and the cavas Opus Evolutium and Privat Laietà

On this tour we have the option to go by train or by car:

- by train: departing from Plaça de Catalunya station to El Masnou town, (26 minuts ride) and then 10 min ride by taxi to Alta Alella wine state.

- by chauffeured car: from your hotel in Barcelona directly to Alta Alella wine state (25 minutes ride)

The guided visit of the vineyard and cellar followed by the wine tasting of six of their wines and cavas takes about 1 and a half hour. This tour includes the assistance of an expert wine guide accompanying you all the time from your hotel in Barcelona, the guided visit and tasting of the winery and the transportation depending on which is your option: train or chauffeured car.
